Registrations Open: Break Dance

Breakdancing has started to make an impact on children, with it’s ever-increasing popularity. Along with being a fun way to dance to some of the latest and most popular music with your friends, breakdancing also has many social and physical advantages for children wanting to join. Some of these include the following:

Burns excess energy:

Breakdancing combines the core body strength and flexibility of a gymnast, with the explosive power of a sprinter. The dance style gives children a full-body workout without it feeling like they are fitting in their daily 30 minutes of exercise. As the program is not susceptible to weather changes and is most often held indoors, classes will also keep the kids burning their excess energy year-round.

Unleash their creative side:

Breakdancing classes give children plenty of opportunity to unleash their creative side! Every lesson encourages students to express themselves through dance and gives them the chance to improvise new steps and combinations. Creating new steps and applying their own flair to each move can work towards developing and improving their self-expression and confidence.

Meet new friends:

During every class kids will have the opportunity to interact with other students. Although, often thought of as an individual sport, lessons give children plenty of time to work with their peers on routines and specific steps, encouraging them to improve their social skills. It also provides a space where children can meet new friends, expand their social circle outside of school and learn how to effectively co-operate and work with others.

Inclusive:

The beauty of breakdancing is anybody can join! No matter what age or gender you are breakdancing is an activity for everyone. The variation of movements are not dependent on how tall, small or strong you are but on kids willingness to learn something new and utilize their creativity. All skill levels are also welcome, whether your child is a beginner or experienced in the dance style, variations to moves gives children the opportunity to tailor the steps and routines to their skill level.

Cognitive Benefits:

Learning intricate moves and having to remember complicated routines will help to boost children’s memory. This can help in school when it comes to content memorization or studying for a test. Weekly classes also give children an outlet to release their excess built up energy, helping with their focus during class.

Diverse:

As breakdancing is ever-evolving, this means classes are too! No two classes will ever be the same and there is always room for change and adaption. Lessons are filled with fundamental moves including toprock, footwork, dropping and freezes as well as offering many variations of these exercises. As children start to get older they will move from junior through to advanced classes, giving them room to continually improve and diversify their skills.
