Contemporary art dance began in America in 1920 as a reaction to the strict structure of ballet. It gives dancers the freedom to express themselves through human daily movements, simpler clothes, contact with the floor and the use of gravity.
Here we must mention that dance therapy also developed from this dance. This art worked as a medium for people who had various health and mental problems; as these individuals escape from stress and hardships, they seem to heal. Children as well as adults can learn different techniques and are taught how to use space and music separately, how to liberate themselves and to have a good time.
