The word biology comes from Greek words «life = life and words = narration, research, interpretation. »
This subject belongs to natural sciences and deals with the study of life and organisms. It is the catalyst for our knowledge of life. It is a science as alive as its objects. Biology discovers and builds knowledge through its immersion in life. Biology is our guide to the world that lives in and around us.
Together with T.I.M.E.’S biologist, adolescents learn about body functions as well as the perpetuation of species, the genetic diversity that is created within offspring. Learners are given the opportunity to study various microscopic organisms, at times even their own DNA, under the lens of a microscope. DNA.
Through various scientific methods they learn how to perform as real scientist do when conducting experiments. Follow to perform an experiment so that they too can perform various experiments.

The purpose of Biology as a course is broken down into four sub-objectives, which apply to each class. Therefore for all classes the sub-objectives are as follows:
Acquiring a single set of basic knowledge
The acquisition of a single set of basic knowledge, necessary skills and attitudes, which is promoted within a holistic approach, via scientific investigation of the natural world. The basic concepts and biological phenomena that are traded in each class have continuity and coherence between them and their study begins in the macrocosm and ends in the microcosm..
Developing higher reasoning skills
The development of superior 21st century reasoning skills, such as critical and creative thinking, problem-solving skills, questioning and decision-making. Special emphasis is also placed on the promotion of scientific and experimental skills.
Promoting understanding
The promotion of understanding the nature of science and the way in which scientific knowledge is developed and validated, providing students with, among other things, opportunities to evaluate existing scientific knowledge and active participation in decisions for its utilization.
Awareness and cultivation
The sensitization and cultivation of the emotional world of teenagers, but also the adoption of values, attitudes and behaviors that should characterize tomorrow’s free and critical thinkers that need to be active and creative European citizens of Cyprus.
